Payment Methods - How to Charge a Patient
How to charge a patient's credit card information collected through PbN
Grow Package is required for this feature
With the Online Appointment Booking, you have the option to collect your patients payment information as they schedule. For instructions on setting that feature up, please look over this guide. This article will cover how to utilize the collected information.
When a patient (under the selected criteria for setup) schedules with the Online Appointment Booking, they will be prompted to provide Credit Card Information. Once they do so, their information will be saved in PbN, which you can find under Payments and then Payment Methods on the left.
From this page you will see a list of patients with collected payment information. From that list you can manage the active card(s) on the patients or charge them.
When you click on the Credit Card symbol, it will pull up the following page. From here you can select the payment method, the amount charged, and provide a description. With that filled out, then all you have to do is hit Charge at the bottom, and when you do so a prompt will ask if you would like to send the patient a receipt. It also provides the option to download the receipt for your own records.
(Note: The convenience fee is a processing charge paid to credit card processers. It is usual to charge the customer these fees as convenience fees. This practice may not be allowed in certain states, so please consult your state regulations.)
Afterwards, you can find the charge in the Payments history on the left side of PbN. From there you can always download, or resend the receipt if necessary. If your writeback Settings for payments are setup, this will also note in your practice management system's ledger.
