Why Treatment Acceptance KPI is usually lower than the Patient Acceptance KPI and more.
Why is my Treatment Acceptance lower than the Patient Acceptance.
-
Patient Acceptance is a result of whether any items from their treatment plan (no matter how much of it) was scheduled.
-
Since Treatment Acceptance just goes by the dollar amount that is scheduled, these factors result in the rate being much lower than the corresponding Patient Acceptance rate.
-
If there is a complex treatment plan or treatment needing to be done in phases, not all treatment is scheduled at the start. Especially implant cases where the restorative phase begins months after the surgical(hence it is usually not scheduled). So to get 100% Treatment Acceptance on these type of cases will not occur. Where as if most patients will schedule for at least one item out of a treatment plan, the Patient Acceptance rate will reflect that with a much higher number than Tx Acceptance.
-
When additional appointments are made in the future regarding a plan, the KPI for the month the treatment plan was created in will increase. It does not increase the acceptance rate for the month the appointment was made in. This also applies to the Patient Acceptance KPI if no treatment had initially been scheduled off of the treatment plan.
Is scheduled hygiene/perio maintenance appointments part of these KPI's?
-
Practice IQ is configured to exclude exams, xrays, prophies, perio maintenance codes, fluoride, and similar codes from the Acceptance KPI's. Sealants are in the treatment category. Any other unique codes for consults, deliveries, etc can be added to the excluded codes on the Settings - Service Codes Sets page.
If a patient is given multiple treatment choices/alternatives, how does this affect the Acceptance rates?
-
How Practice IQ handles multiple plans is highly dependent on whether an office is using Dentrix, Eaglesoft or Open Dental. This topic can get very detailed and a support session with Practice by Numbers would be extremely helpful to get properly informed of the different workflows required.
